Matt Gorman

Matt Gorman

MCN Canada Owner, Head Advisor, Head Instructor

Matt Gorman has a strong background in ice hockey. Growing up in St. Albert. AB, Matt went on to play Junior hockey in the Aberta (AJHL) for the Bow Valley Eagles and the Fort Saskatchewan Traders. It was while playing for the Traders that Matt became only the 8th player in league history to score over 60 goals in a season and was named league MVP.
His play earned him a scholarship offer to play DI collegiate hockey at the University of North Dakota, but turned Pro instead.
Matt spent the next 11 seasons playing professionally in both the US and Europe. While in Europe he spent time in Germany and Italy, winning 2 league championships and 2 scoring titles along the way. He retired from pro hockey in 2008.
Matt currently owns and operates MCN Shooting and Skill Development Facilities in various locations in the Edmonton Area. He is actively involved in many minor hockey associations offering team and player skill development. He also runs various camps during the year in and around the Edmonton area and is PEP certified.

Matt’s dedication to the game is shown through his passion and ability to help young athletes work and strive towards their goals. He has tremendous team work ethic and has developed The MCN Team with this mind set. He believes in advocating for his players and looks out for their best interest when guiding and mentoring them through the recruitment and training process.

Trevor Baker

Trevor Baker grew up in Edmonton, Alberta.

Trevor had many years of playing experiences at all levels (AHL, ECHL, ECIHL, UHL, WHL, AJHL ). Where he won a Kelly Cup Championship (AHL) and also served as Captain for 2 years.

He brings vast knowledge of the game and understanding and knows what it takes to get to the next level.

Paxton Schulte

A resident of Onoway, Alberta, Paxton has vast and diverse experience throughout all levels of hockey. Growing up in rural Alberta he worked his way up through various minor hockey organizations, up to and including the NHL. The road to the NHL is a colourful one, including the AMMHL, AJHL, NCAA, WHL and AHL. Paxton eventually finished his professional career playing in Europe, and a short stint in the CHL in the southern USA.

Paxton has filled many roles as a hockey player, from goal scorer to enforcer, from being the coach‘s favourite to sitting on bench. Relentlessly doing what’s necessary to support each team and different coach’s philosophies. This road has has lead to a lot of learned patience, perseverance and intricate understanding of the game and also what it takes to succeed as an athlete, business owner and life in general. He hopes to pass on his experiences, both life and hockey orientated, including the good, the bad and the ugly, allowing individuals to gain a solid perspective from first hand experience.

Paxton is still involved in the game he loves. He coaches, runs various types and levels of skills and drills camps, off-ice training, one on one skill development and for large groups as required. His love for farm life is still alive and well, as he helps out on his dad‘s bison farm, when he’s not busy at a rink.

Originally from South Boston, MA, Matt has been living in Munich, Germany for the past 12 years. He currently coaches for EHC Munich and is involved in all levels of the organization.

Matt played varsity hockey at Boston College High School before taking a Post Graduate year at the Berkshire School (NEPSAC). After graduation Matt went on to play college hockey at the University of Connecticut.

Matt’s pro career began playing for the Peissenberg Hornets in the German Reginal Liga. He averaged a point a game before knee injury would end his playing career.

In 2008 Matt helped open the first and only synthetic ice training facility in Munich, Xtreme Hockey Academy. At XHA Matt worked with a number of national and professional level players on developing their skills and was one of the head instructors. He joined EHC Munich in 2010.
Matt has great knowledge of European hockey and experience in helping players move on to the US or Canada.

Kyle Spencer

Kyle Spencer grew up in St.Albert AB. He played in the Alberta Junior Hockey League for Sherwood Park Crusaders 1986-87 when he was 16 years old. He went on to play for St.Albert Saints from 87- 91. In 1990 he was named 1st Team All star Defenceman.

Kyle went on to play ACAC NAIT OOOKS in 91-92 and won Canadian College National championship. He also played ACAC Red Deer College.

He has been coaching Midget and Bantam hockey since 1993 with 3 league titles. Most recent title was 2015-16.
Kyle was also named 1st Team all star coach in Victoria International.

Rick Girard

Rick Girard played in four leagues over the course of his career. Rick commenced his playing career in the Western Hockey league as part of the Swift Current Broncos in 1991. Girard won the Brad Hornung Trophy, C.H.L Sportsman of the Year award in 1992-93, as well as was chosen as a first team, W.H.L All-Star. While he was there, he won a Western hockey league championship in 93 as well as he also assisted his team to bring home a gold medal in the World Junior Championships in 1994.

Rick then continued his hockey career by being drafted 46th overall in 1993 NHL entry draft to the Vancouver Canucks. He continued his North American journey by playing three more consecutive years in the American Hockey League ( A.H.L.). Rick had the fortunate opportunity to continue to play 15 more years on international ice, in the German Deutsche Eishockey League (DEL). Rick once again was presented with opportunity to represent Canada in 2001 in the Deutschland Cup. Rick was honored to assist another team, the Adler Mannheim, win a DEL championship in 2007.

Rick retired in 2012 after 18 years of professional hockey. He now lives in St. Albert, Alberta with his wife and children. He is gainfully employed in managerial role at Western Camp Services. He uses his resolute devotion to succeed, as well as his strong communication and leadership skills to assist him to build strong and meaningful relationships with employees and clients.

Andre’s hockey experience lead him to play professionally for Euregio Nordhorn, Hercha EC, ESC Hall 04,he retired after 7 seasons. Moving on to work with the EHC Lausitzer Fuechse DEL 2 in marketing and support the sports area at Transfer Scouting.

He currently acitively scouts internationally.

Todd Clouse

Todd Clouse played football from 1994 to 1996 for the Calgary Colts in the Prairie Junior Football League. In 1994 he played halfback and transitioned to starting weak side linebacker for the 1995 and 1996 seasons. He was named defensive player of the week for two straight weeks in 1995 and was awarded the Calgary Colts Defensive Player of the Year award in 1996. Mr. Clouse was also named to the second team Prairie Junior Football league all-stars list.

Mr. Clouse played linebacker for the University of Alberta Football team from 1999 to 2002; starting at weak side linebacker for 3 years. Mr. Clouse graduated from the University of Alberta in 2003 with a B.Sc. in Earth and Environmental Science.

Mr. Clouse also continued to play in the Alberta Men‘s League after his career was over at the University of Alberta. In 2007 Mr. Clouse was a part of the team that won the Alberta Men’s League championship.

He currently works as an Environmental Consultant in Sherwood Park, Alberta

James passion and dream as a youngster was to become a golf professional, James started his golf career in the early 90’s in Fairmont Hot Springs, BC. His passion to help people with their game grew throughout the years focusing on the instruction and mental side of the golf game. That passion was evident when James became the Teaching Professional for the Cabo San Lucas Country Club in the years of 2000-2001.

James throughout the year has worked with amateur golfers to elite players, mentoring and helping them reach their full potential in their golf games. James has worked for some of the best golf facilities in the province. His experience as a golf professional has taught him the value of a strong mental game. James currently is a golf professional in Alberta and is ecstatic to be a part of the MCN team.

Josh Zanolli

Josh grew up in Taber, Alberta where he played American Legion Baseball for the Vauxhall Spurs which included a District Championship in 1998. After his playing career at the Prairie Baseball Academy in Lethbridge ended, Josh returned to the Vauxhall Spurs as their head coach and lead them to three State Tournament appearances in four years. Josh and his family moved on to Drayton Valley, Alberta where he became the President of Minor Baseball in 2011 and was the driving force behind skill development within the association. Josh continues to coach youth baseball at the Pee Wee and Bantam levels and is currently the President of Olds Minor Baseball.
Josh has also been involved with Softball Canada since 2014 as a player and a coach
